Anna, Charlie, and Big Al!

Anna Lunceford came to see us this weekend. I babysat her when she was about Charlie's age. She is now all grown up and is a freshman at Mississippi State!

Adam thought it would be really funny to get his old Big Al out this morning. I guess Charlie liked it! He hasn't shouted out "Roll Tide" yet...Dad keeps wishing that will happen soon.

Charlie meets the Jones' Kids!

Last week, Charlie and I drove out to Dean and Valerie's house. He loved meeting Dean, Katherine, and Caroline. Dean was very quick to want to play legos with Charlie and to show him all of the costumes that he had. Katherine definitely liked Baby Charlie stating, "I want this baby to be mine forever!" Caroline was sweet to her new friend, Charlie, too. Thanks, Valerie, for having us for lunch...we've come a long way from our MSU days!

Celebrate Good Times!!

Today, we are celebrating Adam's 31st birthday. Yesterday we celebrated Charlie turning 3 months old. Time flies, doesn't it? I am very thankful that both of my guys are healthy and growing each day. Charlie was up early this morning, so he helped me cook some buttermilk waffles for Adam's big day. When Adam got up, we had coffee with coconut creamer and our waffles with butter maple syrup. (As you can tell, when celebrations come around in our house, calories don't count!) Tonight we are going to dinner with Adam's parents and Uncle Gary...it should be a fun day.

We also celebrated on Sunday when Charlie went to the nursery for both church and Sunday school. I panicked a little bit when they paged me out of church...but they had paged the wrong person. The ladies in there said that he did great. When we picked him up, he was just looking around in his crib. What a blessing to have such a sweet baby! (Next week could be a different story, but we'll take things week by week.)

Our dear friends, Ashley and Dan Matteo, welcomed baby Nathan Mack Matteo into the world yesterday. We can't wait to meet this new little buddy of Charlie's. Also, we are so excited that Dana and Chris Sheheane had little Wells a few weeks ago. God has given us such good friends in these couples, and we are very thankful that they now have new additions in their families.

I'll try to post some birthday pics later on this week. Until then, let the celebrations continue.

Are you missing the beginning of school?

Hello my sweet friends,
This is the question that everyone has been asking me lately: "Are you missing the beginning of school?" My answer to this is "yes" and "no." As most of you know, I am taking a year off to be with Little Charlie at home. Yes, this has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember...just ask my Mom and Dad. I have been playing "house" and "mommy" since I was very little. I also have been playing "school" for as long as I can remember. So it has been hard not to rush out and shop for new markers, crayons, sticky notes, and composition books; however, I know without a doubt that this is where God has me right now...caring for my little bundle of joy at home. I cannot imagine anyone else caring for Charlie right now. It is a privilege to stay at home and teach him all about our great big world. I am thankful that God has given me this great "teaching" opportunity.

Now, what do I miss about school (after 10 years of teaching)?
bundles of newly sharpened pencils
new notebooks
green pens
new dry erase markers
mavelous tape (for those of you who don't know..this is a teacher's dream..it is tape that won't pull the paint off of the walls)
newly laminated class lists
composition notebooks
new faces of students, parents, and teachers
the friends of Brookwood Forest Elementary (my home for the last 8 years)
Room 213
Trips to Office Depot/Office Max with Jennifer
Late Friday and Saturday nights right before schools starts
10:45 lunch time
Lunch with 1st grade
Rolling chair parties
Sharing books with kids (now I just get to do that with Charlie)

What am I not missing?
grading papers
fire drills and tornado drills

Well, as you can see the good outweighs the bad...so I know that I'll return to the classroom one day. I know I'll miss it, but I'm in the right career for me right now. To all of my teacher friends, I'll come and visit. Please don't be strangers. I'll have Charlie up there to meet all of the BWF Rangers soon!

Yet even more pics...

This past weekend, we joined KK, Bubba, Lily Kate, Price, and Aunt April for an end-of-summer Smith Lake trip. It was so much fun. From the beautiful boat rides to the tasty dinner at The Angler, everyone had so much fun. Charlie enjoyed relaxing with his best babysitter, Lily Kate. She had everything under control. At one point, no one could get him quiet except for this wonderful four-year-old. Thanks, Lily Kate! You were such a good sport as well when Little Charlie had a big explosion on you. You are going to be a great mom, nurse, and/or teacher one day!
Charlie's other cousin, Price (2 1/2 years old), also enjoyed his time at the lake. He constantly was asking, "Where's Larlie?" Price was such a good help, especially when it came to changing "dipes."
