Compare and Contrast

Charlie at 6 weeks

Jackson at 6 weeks

Many people say that our boys look alike. In these pictures, they definitely differ. Jackson is a little chunk weighing 11 pounds and 9 ounces at almost 7 weeks...thanks to the rice cereal. Charlie was a lot skinnier at that point. Just thought I'd take a little time to compare. (They both aren't smiling in these pictures, and they both were/are happy babies. Hopefully, we'll capture some Jackson smiles on camera soon.)

Happy Birthday, Adam!

Adam turned 33 on August 19th. On the morning of his birthday, we all woke up to Charlie crying becuase he "spit up" or threw up. Not a fun way to start your birthday. Adam stayed home from work for the morning to help with Charlie and Jackson. It is very hard to keep a newborn occupied while the two-year-old is throwing up around the house. Anyway, to really celebrate his birthday, we went to the Blairs' lake house at Smith Lake.

Adam's parents hosted us, and we all had a relaxing time. We celebrated on Friday night when Charlie and Jackson were already asleep...thus no pictures of them.

A birthday would not be complete without cake. Nikki ordered Adam's birthday cake from Olexa's, a bakery in town. Yummy does not even describe it. When you eat at Olexa's, they serve the wedding cake warm, and it is delicious! We learned on day two of the cake to heat it up for about 12 seconds, and it is divine! Needless to say, the cake is no more.

Roll Tide, Adam! This cake was decorated with crimson and white. We are thankful for you, Adam! Here's to many more celebrations!

Happy 4 years!

Adam and I celebrated our four-year anniversary on July 22, 2010. Actually, that is our anniversary date, and we dined with Charlie and Jackson at John's Diner downtown; however, we really got to celebrate in August when we went to Ocean for dinner. Adam's parents, KK and Bubba, babysat the boys, so we could dine alone. We are so thankful that we got a night to just relax, reflect, and rejoice over the blessings that God has given us over the last few years. We have been able to make wonderful friends together, serve together at church, travel together, and just enjoy learning more and more about each other. Believe me, after two babies, you get to know each other well...the good, the bad, and the ugly. I am so thankful to have a helpful husband and father to Charlie and Jackson. Adam and I both talk about how much it takes two (and many more) people to parent. We definitely rely on each other in different ways as parents. As of now, Charlie insists that Adam put him to "nap" (bed), and then I usually put Jackson to bed. Adam is such an encourager to me during the "dark" days of no naps, stomach bugs, and rainy days. Thank you, sweet Adam, for all that you do for me and for our family. I love you MOST!

Jackson: 6 weeks

We have been a bit behind in the blogging world due to the stomach virus (Charlie) and our computer running slow and out of space. All that to say, we are back. Here are a few pictures of our growing "Baby Jackson" as Charlie calls him.

Jackson and "Tiger"

Charlie in action....notice the chipped front tooth. Hopefully, it will be fixed in a year or so.

Sweet brothers!

Jackson still has such a laid back personality. He sleeps, eats, and then sleeps some more. His awake time is usually from 8-10 at night, then he goes down really well. I keep referring to him as "Dream Baby" because right now he is so easy. This baby usually sleeps from 10:00 pm until about 5 am, and he is only 7 weeks old now. Jackson doesn't mind lots of kisses ("Mmmmm-uh" as Charlie says) and hugs from everyone, including Charlie. Charlie does love his brother, but continues to want us to "Hold you, Mommy" and "Hold you, Daddy." Overall, though, we are adjusting well as a family of four. There is definitely not any down time at night as we are often bathing, feeding, and loving on our boys. God has blessed us with these two little gifts, and for them we are truly thankful!

Funnies of the Week

As you all know, our Charlie is a very verbal person...mmm, I wonder where he gets that from? I wanted to document and share with you some of the funny quotes of the week.

--This morning, we went to get our haircut at "Jaime's." She is the sweet person who cuts naturally curly hair perfectly. On our way home from getting our haircut, Charlie asked for another fruit snack. I told him to wait one minute while I turn onto this road. He said, "Interstate, Mommy." I said, "What did you say?" He said, "Interstate." I don't know where he heard me say that, but I laughed out loud.

--One night this week, Adam was taking Charlie down the hall to go to sleep. I was on the couch giving Jackson his bottle. Charlie looked at him and said, "That baby is chugging on his bottle." Adam and I both stared at each other in disbelief and laughed.

--I overheard Charlie singing the other morning while I was getting ready. He was singing so sweetly, "Jesus loves the little children. Jesus loves me this I know, for a bible tells me so." He also loves to sing, "Tinkle, tinkle, little star."

We love you, Big Boy Charlie! Thanks for making us smile.
