One Friday, we ventured out to go to the zoo with some friends. When we approached the zoo entrance, cars and people were streaming into the gates. The moms of the group quickly re-thought our plan and headed to the park instead. I happened to call the zoo on the way to the park and asked what kind of festivities were going on that day. The enthusiastic woman answered, "IT'S SPRINGTIME AT THE BIRMINGHAM ZOO! We have 3000 kids here today. It's field trip time." Well, that was enough for us....note to self: go in the afternoons or on a cloudy day.
